THE BIRTH OF VENUS

Venus de Miles began in Boulder County, Colorado in 2008. A group of Greenhouse Scholars' staffers wanted to create a unique fundraising event just for women - with all the perks and touches women would appreciate. The event quickly grew in popularity, bringing together thousands of active women in the celebration of sisterhood and community.  In 2012, the Greenhouse Scholars program was established in Illinois and Venus de Miles found it's way to the beautiful community of Lake Forest. To date more than 14,000 women have participated in a Venus de Miles event and those numbers continue to grow as women invite their sisters, their daughters, their mothers, and their friends to join them for this unforgettable day of fun and fitness for an exceptional cause.

Venus de Miles is for all skill levels and features courses to accommodate any active woman – whether this is your first athletic event or your hundredth. Choose from a 5k run / walk or bike ride options of 25-miles or 60-miles.  All courses start in finish in the beautiful community of Lake Forest.

SassyCyclist will have a booth from the beginning to end on Saturday!

Spellbound Century

The 4th annual Spellbound Century road bike event takes place in Burlington County, NJ on scenic roads by local horse farms and various terrains. It starts from Spellbound Brewing in historic Mount Holly, NJ. There will be various mileage options to choose from including family friendly 22 miles, to a more experience 45 and 63 miles, to a challenging 100 miles. There will be a few hills along the way with lots of straightaways. The ride routes are marked, fully SAG supported and riders are assisted by a local motorcycle club. The event will also have fully stocked planned rest stops along the way at local farm markets where you can purchase goods that will be transported to the start point so they will be waiting for you when you finish the ride. The event also includes a post ride celebration at Spellbound Brewing where you will be treated to a pint of beer, pizza, Italian water ice, vendors and other fun activities.

Participants who register before July 1st will receive and event t-shirt and, for those of you who are competitive, there will be a medal presented to the 100-mile riders.

The Spellbound Century has become one of the premier riding events of the summer. The event has always sold out before the day off, and this year there is a 750-participant limit, so register early to ensure a spot.

Participation in the Spellbound Century has provided youths the opportunity to visit colleges, improved the Rancocas Valley Little League field, and provided college scholarships and other assistance to high school graduates through the Aleshire, Holmes and Wurst Memorial Scholarship Fund.

SassyCyclist will be in attendance for the second year!
